Gujarat Man Travels On Bogus Passport: A 32-year-old man, originally from Gujarat, was arrested in Mumbai for traveling to 3 countries using fake passports. The accused has been identified as Mujeeb Hussain, a resident of Kheda district of Gujarat. Mujib Hussain is alleged to have traveled to three countries in the last five years with a fake passport.
After the arrest, the accused Mujeeb Hussain told the police that he had gone to the United Kingdom (UK) on a student visa in 2010 and had been working there illegally since the visa expired. Sahar police station official said, ‘In 2018 he managed to go to Portugal, where he obtained a passport through an agent. Using this passport, he obtained an Indian visa and traveled to the country at least thrice and also to France.
Look-out circular was issued by the Portuguese government
The police officer said that Mujeeb Hussain was detained by the immigration officials at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at 1.45 pm on Wednesday (February 1). Mujib submitted his Portuguese passport at the airport itself. In which his name was written Sultan Fakir Mohammad. At the same time, when the custom officer checked the data, it was found that the Portuguese government had issued a look-out circular against him.
Fake passport taken in 2018, also came to India 3 times
The look-out circular stated that a person had obtained a fake passport in 2018 using a fake identity. After seeing this, when the police and immigration officials checked his travel records, it was found that he had traveled to India in 2019, 2020 and 2022. He also went to London with a fake passport.
Case registered under these sections
“We will speak to the concerned authorities in Portugal, UK as well as France to find out how he traveled on a fake passport for five years… We are in touch with the Portuguese authorities,” the official said. Explain that Mujib Hussain has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for cheating, forgery and dishonest use of a forged document as well as under the Passport Act, 1937.
