Which rice should be eaten in diabetes?

If you have diabetes or you are on the border line of having sugar, then you should avoid eating white rice every day. Instead of these, you should sometimes use brown rice and sometimes sama rice. Sama’s rice is also known as Millet Rice.

You can eat this rice every day. Because the Glycemic Index (GI) of Sama’s rice is less than 50. That is, they do not increase the glucose level very fast, due to which the blood sugar remains low. This rice is also called barnyard millet and it is rich in protein. Being rich in antioxidants and phytochemicals, they also work to detoxify the body. That is, remove harmful elements and unnecessary substances from the body. But consume them in limited quantity every day, eating more can reduce blood sugar too much.

How to make sama rice?

  • First of all wash the Sama rice in clean water.
  • Now keep them soaked for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Now cook this rice in an open vessel like a pan or soak. Keep double the amount of rice you have taken and cover it with a plate and let it cook on low flame.
  • To ensure that this rice does not burn and cooks evenly, keep stirring it in between. When all their water dries up, then eat them with dal-vegetable-chutney and pickle.
